Guide to a Minimal Christmas
If you’re looking to have a minimal Christmas this year, here are some tips to help you embrace simplicity and create a warm and cozy atmosphere:
Declutter: Before you start decorating, declutter your space to create a clean slate. Assess what you have and prevent your home from becoming overwhelmed with stuff. You can find decluttering tips and a checklist here.
Check Your Inventory: Instead of buying new decorations, shop your home first. Look for items in other rooms that can be repurposed or used in different ways (pillows, throws & candles). This can help you save money and give your space a fresh look. Bring in elements from the outdoors, branches, and pinecones make a great centerpiece. Use holiday books to create a fun mantle display.
Take Down Your Other Decor: When possible, replace existing decor items with your holiday decor. You can take down a picture on your wall and hang up a wreath or holiday decoration, use the same storage box to keep your everyday decor in, and just swap out when the holiday is over. Adding holiday items on top of daily items will make your home feel cluttered.
Bring in Special elements: Instead of overdoing it with a lot of decorations, use some special items that will add joy and warmth to your space. This could be a cozy throw blanket, a wreath on the door, lights in your living room, your favorite candle, and holiday music.
Simplify Gift Giving: Instead of exchanging numerous gifts, consider simplifying your list. Decide which gift exchanges you’d most like to take part in and remove yourself from others. Consider gifting experiences whenever possible, check out my guide on experience gifts for the whole family.
Remember, the goal of a minimal Christmas is to focus on what truly matters and create meaningful moments with loved ones.
I hope these tips help you have a simple and joyful Christmas! 🎄✨
